The Dashaway’s ergonomic design encourages the user to stand in an upright and neutral
position. Many traditional mobility devices force the user into a slouched position
facilitating a pattern of bad posture. In this way the Dashaway can help to improve
posture and reduce back pain simultaneously.
- Provides Superior Fall Prevention
By surrounding the user on three sides and providing full body support the Dashaway
eliminates many of the causes of falls. When properly used as directed the Dashaway
is designed to align the user’s center of gravity with the machine. The Dashaway's wide base, default brakes,
trailing wheels and superior turning radius are a few of the features that make it the preferred choice for fall prevention.
- Brakes
Both braking systems have a feature that enables the user to grab one or both hand brakes to engage the braking system. This can be especially helpful for post-stroke patients that have lost control over one side of their body.
Standard Brakes: The standard style braking system works just like a bicycle. Pulling one or both of the hand brakes stops the Dashaway from moving.
Default Safety Brakes: This option provides an added level of safety. The brakes stay engaged until you pull one or both hand brakes. For example, if you were getting up out of a chair, the Dashaway would not move until you are safely inside the unit and release the brakes. For extended use a band can be placed around the brake handle so you are not constantly holding the brakes to move.
- Single Action Pivot Design for Dual Functionality
The single action pivot design helps to increase user comfort, gives varying degrees
of support for different physical conditions, and expands the applications for exercise,
mobility, and individual fit. For example, a person suffering from shoulder or arm
surgery or a person who has suffered a stroke and has limited use on one-side of
the body, may need more support on one side, and less support on the other. In another
example, as a patient’s health improves by applying the provided exercise program,
he or she may need less support than when they started. Another advantage of the
full support configuration is that it brings mobility to those unable to use traditional
devices. The Dashaway is the only device of its kind allowing for this type of individualized
support, making it far superior to other products.
- Light-weight Aluminum Frame
The Dashaway’s modern and stylish design has much more in common with high end bicycles
then it does with traditional mobility devices. It is designed to support your entire
body weight, while remaining both lightweight and portable. In recent stress tests
the Dashaway’s frame was able to withstand 2,000 pounds of pressure before buckling.
- Foam Cushioned Seat
Versatile Fold-Away Seat. Many Dashaway users appreciate the ability to comfortably
rest when needed. When not needed, however, the seat folds over the front of the
device. This action adds more room inside the unit, facilitating a wider variety
of activities and exercises.
- Adjustable Padded Forearm Support
Comfortable padded forearm Supports that are individually adjustable for a perfect
fit. These also help stabilize the user by placing the elbows into a natural position
while simultaneously improving overall posture.
- Durable Polyurethane Wheels with Precision Bearings
Custom bearings and wheels provide superior shock absorption for a smoother ride.
By combining eight inch front wheels with five inch back wheels the Dashaway achieves
an improved turning radius. Our polyurethane wheels are custom made to our specifications.
- Quick-set Height Adjustment
The Dashaway is designed for users 4’8” to 6’4”. Its unique custom made pull pin
is easy to use and can quickly be adjusted with only two fingers, making it arthritis
friendly.
- Spring Loaded Decompression Design
Poor posture distorts the alignment of bones, chronically tenses muscles and contributes
to loss of lung capacity. It also increases fatigue and reduces blood and oxygen
to the brain. As the user places his body weight into the device, the Dashaway’s
frame flexes, acting as a spring, providing spinal traction. This, in turn decompresses
the spine, reducing fatigue, improving circulation and providing pain relief.
- Support Bars
The Dashaway includes a second set of supports making it easier to sit or stand
when using the provided seat.
- User-Friendly Exercise Video
The Dashaway system includes the Basic Ten Exercise DVD. This exercise program is
fun, easy to do and contributes to greater flexibility and strength, encouraging
independence. It’s even fun for groups training together. Additionally, this DVD
offers five discreet audio tracks allowing you a selection of music, or if you prefer,
no music at all. It also includes subtitles for the heard of hearing.
